San Camp is a classically elegant camp, with seven minimalistic yet luxurious white tents standing at the edge of the pans, running almost entirely on solar power to ensure you really get back to nature. Not only is the location utterly unique, the activities here are completely different to those found at the usual safari camps. Here you can meet habituated meerkats, go quad-biking across the salt-pans, head out on game drives searching for desert adapted wildlife, or just unwind in the yoga pavilion enjoying the endless vistas before you.
The camp is made up of a spacious dining tent, which is adjoined, by the library tent and tea tent. The library tent contains an array of ancient artifacts found in the area, a wide range of books and a vintage suitcase bar stocked full of spirits and liqueurs. The tea tent contains comfortable cushions on which guests can relax and enjoy their afternoon tea and coffee as well as a sumptuous spread of cakes and biscuits. Dining in the main mess tent is communal, but should you wish for a private dining experience the camp staff will be more than happy to accommodate you. A short walk from the main mess tent is the open-sided yoga pavilion, the perfect place for unwinding and being at one with your surroundings.
The guest tents are all spread out along the edge of the pans, with the double tents being the furthest away. The furthest tent is about a 5-10 minute walk from the main area. Each of the tents contains either two twin four-poster beds or one large double four-poster. There is seating within the tent and on the veranda and the en-suite bathroom contains a sink, flush loo and shower with hot and cold running water heated by solar power. Camera charging facilities can be found in the main mess tent.
