Arijiju is an exclusive use retreat, beautifully designed, inspired by the monastic buildings of Ethiopia and ancient earth architecture. The villa is carved into the hillside rock, blending in so seamlessly with its surroundings you could easily be forgiven for not realising it was there at all. A central arched cloister surrounds a courtyard at the heart of the house and linking the main rooms.
Within the villa itself the rooms are vast with high ceilings and enormous windows to make the most of the views and fill the house with light. There is an open-plan living room and dining room, a separate lounge area and bar, a library, cinema room, yoga pavilion, gym and hamman, and roof terraces with various seating and dining areas. There are five bedroom suites in total, three contained within the main residence, and two additional guest cottages connected to the main house to provide slightly separate but still linked accommodation for larger groups. The villa also comes with a complete team of staff to see to guests every need including butlers, chefs, guides, drivers, housekeepers and security. In short guests will want for absolutely nothing during their stays here.
Arijiju has been designed as a restorative and peaceful retreat and so with this in mind a lot of focus has been put on wellness; with delicious food with lots of locally sourced fresh ingredients, a twenty metre infinity lap pool, a fully equipped gym, tennis and squash courts, a hamman and spa which includes a steam room and cold plunge as well as a spa therapist to provide a range of restorative treatments. Incredibly rare for the bush at Arijiju you can also go on early morning runs, escorted by a running guide and vehicle. At 2,000 metres and with a temperate climate you couldn’t find better conditions for enjoying a job as the sun rises before you.
There are also plenty of activities on offer such as game drives, fly fishing, bush walks and horse riding safaris, and for anyone wishing to go further afield, helicopter safaris to remote locations are also possible.
