Just 20 villas make up this remote and beautiful lodge, nestled amongst indigenous forest along what is surely one of the few untouched beaches remaining in the world. Each villa has a butler to attend to guests every needs and days are as flexible as you wish, with meals being set up wherever you feel like. Each villa comes with it’s own private pool, the size of which depends on which villa type you opt for. Even the entry level villas are vastly spacious and they increase in size right up to the 3 bedroom Presidential villa which is completely self-contained, even with it’s own helipad for those wanting a discreet entrance.

Activities tend to be centred around the water with exceptional diving and snorkelling to be found as well as deep-sea fishing, sailing and also some land excursions on Benguerra Island or by island hopping to it’s neighbours.

Azura Benguerra is located on Benguerra Island in the Bazaruto archipelago off the coast of Southern Mozambique. The island itself lies within a National Park so you can expect to find crystal clear waters and dazzling white sandy beaches. The island lies 14km north east of Vilanculos and is usually reached by an international flight to Vilanculos from either Johannesburg or the Kruger, followed by a 10 minute transfer in a state of the art helicopter directly to the lodge.

The general atmosphere at Azura Benguerra is one of complete relaxation and informality making it the epitome of barefoot luxury. The staff are fantastic and go above and beyond to cater to guests every need, be it teaching them local games to play in the bar, mixing up inventive cocktails, or setting up romantic dinners on the beach. Nothing is too much trouble and you can do as little or much as you wish each day.

Azura Benguerra is open all year round. The island is blessed with hot and sunny weather year round. When there is rain the showers tend to be short and sharp. The more humid wet season tends to be from November to February, and the hotter, dry season from March to October. Most rainfall occurs from December to March.

Benguerra Island is reached by daily flights from Johannesburg or Nelspruit, followed by a short 10 minute helicopter journey to the island.

Children of all ages are welcome at Azura Benguerra.

There is limited mobile phone signal on the island.
