The farm hotel at Babylonstoren was born when some of the existing Cape Dutch farm buildings were transformed into luxury guest accommodation, adjacent to the 8 acre fruit and vegetable garden. The buildings have thick white washed walls, gables, stable doors and vast open fireplaces, resulting in a contemporary farmhouse style with a delightfully cosy atmosphere.

There are a range of different bedroom options at Babylonstoren, including one bedroom suites, and one and two bedroom cottages. Newly built at the one bedroom farmhouse suites which have exclusive access to an outdoor swimming pool and a hot spa area. There is also the five-bedroom Manor House which can be rented out on an exclusive use basis. As well as the extensive gardens to explore there is also a separate luxury Garden Spa for guests use, and a restored farm reservoir has been converted into an original outdoor swimming pool. Besides exploring the 200 hectares of farm, hotel guests are invited to join in the harvesting in season, or join one of the daily guided cellar tours. As well as being a peaceful and picturesque haven for adults, Babylonstoren is also a paradise for children, with resident geese, chickens and donkeys to entertain them.

Babylonstoren is an utterly unique boutique hotel in the Western Cape Winelands, part of a working farm with beautiful and extensive gardens. Located between Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, this is the ideal location for anyone wishing to really explore this beautiful part of South Africa. The farm itself dates back to 1692 and many of the original Cape Dutch buildings still form parts of the hotel and farmyard today. The gardens took their inspiration from the Company’s Garden of Cape Town, which supplied passing ships to the Cape with food in the 1600s, and every one of the 300+ varieties of plant in the garden are edible or have medicinal value, many of these therefore are used as ingredients at the farms renowned restaurant, Babel.

Babylonstoren really is the most picturesque place in the Winelands in our opinion, and makes for a fantastic destination whether you are looking for a healthy spa-style retreat, a memorable moment on your honeymoon, or a fun holiday spent enjoying the outdoors with your children. The restaurant is one of the best to be found in the Western Cape, and you’d be hard pressed to find a wine more delicious than the Babylonstoren rosé. Don’t miss out the farm shop either, where you’ll find plenty of delicious treats to take home as well as some fantastic recipe books from their restaurant.

Babylonstoren is approximately a 40 minute drive from Cape Town Airport. From the airport you take the on-ramp to N2 East (Somerset West). Then take the next major off-ramp off the NQ - the R300. After this you will turn left and head for Bellville Stay on this road all the way to the N! on-ramps. Then veer right towards Paarl.

Children of all ages are welcome at Babylonstoren. A babysitting service is also available.

There is secure parking and 24-hour security at Babylonstoren.
