Belmond Eagle Island Lodge re-opened in November 2015 after an extensive refurbishment, bringing a new level of luxury to the Okavango Delta. This is a bush lodge with a level of luxury you don’t tend to find outside of South Africa, with air-conditioning, private plunge pools, air safaris in Belmond’s private helicopter, and other treats one can only begin to dream of. There are just 12 luxury tented suites, each offering the same extremely high level of accommodation, and housed on raised wooden platforms, shaded by a thatch roof, with private decks leading out to your own plunge pool. The Fish Eagle bar provides an amazing spot for your evening sun downers, and activities include motorboat safaris, barge cruises, moor canoe safaris, walking safaris, game drives (water levels dependant) and private helicopter air safaris.

Belmond Eagle Island Lodge occupies an impressive location at the heart of the Okavango Delta. It’s perched on a private island with the lodge sitting on the bank of an expansive lagoon and offers a fantastic water-focussed safari experience but providing land activities as well for the majority of the year. The island is set within the Moremi Game Reserve, off the southern edge Chief's Island, a destination famed for having some of the best birding and wildlife in Southern Africa.

The Fish Eagle bar provides an amazing spot for your evening sun downers, with wonderful handing egg chairs and incredible panoramic views out over the bush and water channels. Watching the sun set over the water before you whilst listening to the melodic grunts of the hippos is absolute heaven. Another huge plus of Belmond Eagle Island Lodge is the vast range of activities on offer, such motorboat safaris, barge cruises, canoe safaris, walking safaris, game drives (water levels dependant), horse-back safaris and private helicopter air safaris.

Whilst a rustic safari experience can be exactly what some might be looking for, we feel that for those who prefer their creature comforts you really couldn’t hope for a better spot than Belmond Eagle Island Lodge. The service, food and accommodation surpass what you might find in a five star city hotel, but you’d be enjoying it in the magical and adventurous surroundings of the Okavango Delta.

Belmond Eagle Island Lodge is reached by charter flight, either 20 minutes from Maun, or 85 minutes from Kasane. There is a private helipad and airstrip.

Children over the age of 6 are welcome at Belmond Eagle Island Lodge but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All children under the age of 12 must share a tent with at least one adult.
