Unlike most islands Finolhu has a major bonus for potential visitors of the over-water villas being the entry-level room type. These are the Lagoon Villas, of which there are 41, that each have a spacious bedroom and en-suite bathroom and their own private deck with steps leading down into the turquoise waters of the lagoon. Then there are 16 Beach Villas, very similar to the Lagoon villas but set on the white sand of the island's beaches. Then further along the jetty from the Lagoon Villas are the 41 Ocean Pool Villas, slightly larger in size and with their own private fresh water pools. Their counterparts are the Beach Pool Villas on the island. Then finally are 9 two-bedroom Ocean Lagoon Pool Villas and the 2 two-bedroom Beach Pool Villas, all of which encompass a vast amount of space and are ideal for families or friends travelling together and wanting a large area with complete privacy.

The overwater villas at Finolhu are all stretched along one long jetty, and there are regular golf buggies that head up and down as an 'island bus service'. Of course you can always enjoy a gentle walk to the island as well.

Located in the UNESCO world biosphere of the Baa Atoll, Finolhu is reached by a 30 minute seaplane flight from Malé or a 20 minute internal flight to Dharavandhoo Domestic Airport in Baa Atoll followed by a 20 minute boat journey to Finolhu. Finolhu's sister island Amilla Fushi is just a 30 minute speedboat ride away so guests here have the benefit of exploring both islands at their leisure.

Finolhu is by far the most entertaining out of the Maldives paradise islands. Day or night there is always something going on, and a huge range of things to explore and enjoy. The Baa Baa Beach Club is at the heart of Finolhu and is the lively spot to to be with nightly, weekly and monthly entertainment such as fire-eaters and acrobats. Kanusan is Finolhu's over-water fine dining restaurant, offering a range of delicious Asian fusion cuisine. Finally there is the famous Fish & Crab Shack. This is set far along a stunning strip of sandbank and can be reached by a half-hour stroll or you can hop aboard the boat which takes guests back and forth every half hour. Here you will usually find guests relaxing with chilled glasses of rosé or cocktails whilst devouring delicious seafood snacks.

The island is quintessentially trendy, with retro touches such as a tuck shop and spa treatment rooms named after famous divas. Some of our favourite touches are the inspirational signs and quotes dotted around the island, putting a smile on your face every turn you take.

Finolhu welcomes children of all ages and is home to the Oceaneers Kids Club, open from 9am to 10pm.

Reached by 30 minute seaplane ride or a 20 minute internal flight followed by a 20 minute speedboat ride.
