The hotel is made up of several buildings, which date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The village itself is also incredibly rich in history, dating back to the Roman era. Hotel Crillon Le Brave was founded in 1989 and has been grown bit by bit since then as other properties have been added to it. The Sunday Times Travel charmingly describes it as “Luxurious rooms scattered in a gaggle of hilltop properties”.
There are 28 double bedrooms and 7 suites, all ranging in size throughout the property, many with terraces to make the most of the outstanding views. All contain the modern features you would wish for such as Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a sound system with iPod connectors and most have superb views of nearby Mont Ventoux or the Rhône Valley. There is also the Sousto Village House with two ensuite bedrooms and a living room, ideal for small families or two couples travelling together.
The hotel offers a variety of dining options, starting with the main Restaurant Jérôme Blanchet, located in a magnificent stone vaulted dining room with additional tables on the terraces overlooking the vineryards. Then on most nights during the busier months there is Bistrot 40K, offering wonderful local food and wine from the 40km around Crillon le Brave. And finally there is La Grange, where breakfast and lunch are served in the restaurant, on the terraces and in the courtyards.
The hotel has a wonderful spa, located in a beautiful house next to the church. There is also a heated swimming pool, ideal for warm swims from March to November, a boules court and the hotel has several good quality Trek hybrid bicycles for guests to explore the surrounding countryside on.
The concierge team at Crillon Le Brave are always very happy to recommend things to do nearby and favourites include enjoying a scenic drive to I’Isle sur la Sorgue for some antique shopping, visiting one of the several colourful nearby markets, wine tasting at nearby Domaine du Tix or the renowned Chåteauneuf du Pape, touring on eof the beautiful Lubéron driving routes, truffle hunting with the chefs and visiting places of historical note nearby, such as the ruins of Vaison-la-Romaine, Orange’s spectacular amphitheatre and St Rémy’s Glanum.
