There are just 12 beautifully decorated rooms at Maison La Minervetta, all of which have wonderful sea views and most of which have floor to ceiling windows from which to enjoy these.

The hotel has a real home-away-from-home feel, with a relaxed yet stylish décor, artwork collected from around the wortld, various comfy lounge spots in which to relax, and an open-plan kitchen area where guests can wander in and witness some delicious cuisine in the making. There is no ‘restaurant’ as such on site, but guests can enjoy informal meals out on the deck or on the covered terrace below. The breakfast spread is particularly good.

There is a small swimming pool, really more of a large plunge pool but ideal for the small number of guests the hotel accommodates. Several sun loungers lie by the pool and more are tucked away in private little corners for those wanting their privacy. If you want a day on the beach the staff will arrange for you to have sunbeds at a private beach just yards from the hotel.

Maison La Minervetta is perched on a cliffside on the edge of Sorrento, with rooms and terraces dug into the cliff face itself. It overlooks the Bay of Sorrento, with truly spectacular views. Guests can enjoy an easy stroll into the centre of Sorrento, this takes about 20 minutes, to explore the countless shops, restaurants, bars and sights to be seen there. The walk does involve quite a few steps so if you don’t fancy the exercise then there is an easier amble down to the charming, sleepy Marina Grande, Sorrento’s original port, where you can enjoy discovering some excellent local restaurants.

Just an hours drive from Naples Airport, the hotel is convenient to get to, and guests staying here can also use it as a base to explore the nearby towns of Positano, Praiano, Amalfi and Ravello, spread out along the Amalfi Coast, all within a two hour drive. Pompei is also within each reach.

Trendy would be the best way to describe the décor at atmosphere at Maison La Minervetta. The hotel is owned by a Danish architect and his exceptional taste has had a hand in all of the interiors. The staff wear casual Breton-striped tops and high-top trainers and guests here really enjoy the feeling of staying at a friend’s house rather than being in a hotel.

Maison La Minervetta is an adults-only property.

The hotel is open all year round.
