This picturesque private island is the ideal destination whether you are on your honeymoon and looking for some romance, or trying to visit the best dive sites and waters around the world. There are just 12 beachside bandas (including one family banda) tucked into the tropical forest and looking out to the white coral sand beach. The bandas are very open air to allow the gentle sea-breeze to permeate fully and a covered walkway leads from each bedroom to a shuttered ensuite bathroom with a huge rain shower. IN front of the bedrooms are spacious verandas, perfect for enjoying your morning cup of tea or evening drinks as the sun goes down. Whilst the open-air nature of the rooms makes air-conditioning somewhat pointless there are overhead fans to make sure that the cool air wafts over you throughout the night.
Considering the remoteness of Mnemba Island the food never fails to astound guests here. Baskets of fresh fruit, fish, lobsters, crabs and prawns are sailed in on a daily basis and served up in the thatched dining area or at romantic candle-lit dinners on the beach.
The island is surrounded by outstanding marine life with incredible diving year round. The waters are also ideal of swimming and snorkelling, which can be done right off the beach. There is also kayaking, fishing, boating and paddle-boarding available for anyone who doesn’t just feel like relaxing on the beach. Between the months of April and August the turtle season peaks and these prehistoric creatures can be found laying their eggs on the beaches. Nine weeks after the eggs are laid guests can enjoy the sight of tiny turtle hatchlings scuttling down the beach to the sea.
