Nihi Sumba Island is made up of a collection of estates, consisting of different sized villas to suit the size of your needs. There are 28 villas in total, with 33 rooms in a 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 bedroom layout, all with private pool. The resort stretches along a 2.5km private beach, amongst 567 acres of unspoilt, natural reserve.

You stay at Nihi will include 3 meals a day, snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, a mini-bar, Wi-Fi, 6 pieces of laundry per person, per day, and air-conditioning. The hotel also offers butler service, private in-villa dining, airport transfers, babysitting services and destination dining.

Kasambi Estate
Kasambi Estate overlooks the famous surf breaks of Nihi beach making it ideal for any surfing enthusiasts. There is the Kasambi two-bedroom villa and 2 Kasambi Suites, each benefitting from private entrances occupying a Creek side location at the resort.

Marangga Wave Front Villas
Offering undisturbed views of the Indian Ocean, the four Marangga villas each comprise one bedroom with a private garden, outdoor shower, bathtub, outdoor dining and lounge area, terrace and private plunge pool. These villas offer perfect secluded privacy, ideal for honeymoons or romantic escapes.

Lamba Estate
The two Lamba Wave Front villas are located on a shared estate and have the flexibility ot be rested separately or connected for familes and frents. Both villas are complete with one bedroom, a day bed with teak cabana, large round bathtub, shower, terrace and deck, outdoor dining and lounge area, a private plunge pool and private gardens leading to the beach.

Lulu Amahu
Both of the two Lulu Amahu Villas are perfect for families, one with a master bedroom connecting to a children’s bedroom; the other with a master bedroom connecting to a living room that can be converted to a children’s bedroom. The both have private terraces with an outdoor perched Bale land private plunge pool.

Kanatar
The two Kanatar Sumba Houses are located on a hill offering wonderful views of the Nihi estate and bay. These are very spacious duplex hideaways, perfectly designed for a couple’s romantic escape with private gardens and pools. Each one-bedroom villa is designed to resemble a two-storey Sumbanese house. On entering guests are welcomed by a spacious deck and private infinity pool as well as an outdoor seating area and bathroom to the rear. On the upper level of the house the bedroom opens to another open-air platform amongst the trees with a bathroom and outdoor jungle shower.

Raja Mendaka
The Mendaka estate is Chris Burch’s estate, the owner of Nihi and the most rpectacular residence at the resort, occupying prime position overlooking the famous Nihi wave and coastline. The estate comprise of five individual one-bedroom villas, each with its own private pool. The expansive living and ding area takes centre stage at the front of the estate and includes a 19m pool with an ice cold plunge pool, plus dining and covered seating areas with a fully equipped kitchen to the side. To the back of the entertaining area is a library/studio with a bathroom.

Tree House
The Mamole Tree House is a three-bedroom unique and whimsical tree house set on stilts with the best view of the beach and designed to really bring the outdoors in. Two of the two-storey villas are connected by a bamboo bridge and share an infinity pool whilst the third bedroom has it’s own private infinity pool.

Puncak Estate
This three-bedroom estate is set in the upper part of the resort with wonderful views of the sea and lush jungle surrounding it. It comprises of two main buildings with the first offering two bedrooms and the second one bedroom. The main entertaining and dining area along with the pool are is set between the villas.

Lantoro Estate
This is a beachside villa perfect for large family groups or groups of friends travelling together. It consists of a two-bedroom villa and two individual suites; each with their own private entrance. The villa has a large open-air poolside bar and dining area overlooking the infinity pool and the two suites share a private plunge pool with a path leading directly down to the beach.

Wamoro Estate
Tucked away amongst the jungle, the two-bedroom Warmoro is perfect for families and guests looking for a little privacy. The two main beach villas are connected by large gardens leaving to an beautiful outdoor area with a spacious dining area, bar, kitchen and separate bathroom. There is also a large infinity pool and convenient beach access.

Nihi Sumba Island is set on a secluded bay on the remote southwestern coast of Sumba Island, 400km to the east of Bali, Indonesia. It is a luxurious eco-resort, surrounded by tropical forest and rice terraces. There are twice daily flights from Bali to Sumba and on the return. On arrival in Sumba you will be met and then taken on the one and a half hour car journey over the mountain ranges to descend through traditional settlements, waterfalls, rive fields, river valleys and forests to the magical setting of Nihi Sumba by the Indian Ocean.

A minimum stay of 3 nights is required all year round except during High Season and Chinese New Year when a minimum stay of 5 nights is required.

Villa Rates Include:

  • All meals – breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning/afternoon snacks and all non-alcoholic beverages

  • Mini Bar (1 full re-stock per day, including beers and spirits)
  • Laundry (NB dry cleaning is not available at the resort)
  • Scheduled excursions & activities on land: trips to Sumba Foundation Projects
  • Activities by sea: stand-up paddle boarding and snorkelling around Nihi Sumba Island beach (when weather conditions permit)
  • All guests can participate in our scheduled group yoga & meditation classes at the Yoga Pavilion

Please note that all additional activities and services, not listed above, including alcoholic beverages, tobacco, fishing trips, boat excursions, jet ski, tow surfing, spear fishing, private Yoga/Pilates/TRX instruction, private surf lesson, waterfall treks, additional surfer spots, spa treatments, boutique purchases, private open-air Land Rover discovery trips and babysitter services, are available at additional charges.

If you wish to surf during your stay you must inform the resort as surfing spots are limited to 10 at any one time in order to preserve an unforgettable crowd free surfing experience. Surfing spots cost US$100 per person, per day and US$125 in high season.
