Serengeti Under Canvas is actually made up of two camps, each identical and spaced far apart, each in private wilderness campsites. Whilst they are tented camps designed to give guests a traditional safari experience there is an element of luxury as well designed to make stays as comfortable as possible. Think private butler servicer, silverware, chandeliers, ensuite flush loos and comfortable beds right in the middle of the wilderness.
Each camp contains only nine tents, one of which in each camp is a family tent. Booking of the family tent also includes the use of a private vehicle. The camps have recently been revamped and now boast even more spacious tents, each with its own indoor sitting area and plenty of storage space. Along with the ensuite flush loos there are alfresco his and hers bucket showers and of course seating areas just outside each tent, the perfect spot from which to enjoy your morning cups of tea or coffee.
It’s all about the game viewing at Serengeti Under Canvas and the camps really are set right in the thick of it. Should you wish for a change one day though you can go hot air ballooning nearby almost all year-round at an additional charge or head off on a day trip to Oluvai Gorge and Shifting Sands if the camp is in the correct location.
As an &Beyond camp guests can expect the highest levels of hospitality and guiding. The vehicles are also exceptionally comfortable and have power outlets in them for keeping your cameras charged. Days are always tailored to your preference, usually with either twice-daily game drives or a full day drive if you want to head further afield with a bush lunch set up for you somewhere on route.
