Sindabezi is an authentic bush camp, the only one in the area. It’s situated on a private island and the sounds of the mighty Zambezi River will lull you to sleep at night in this natural bush haven. Sindabezi Island is incredibly environmentally friendly, and a real chance to get back to nature with your rooms being lit by hurricane lamps, candles and starlight each night.

Accommodation is in just 5 open front thatched chalets, each on a raised wooden deck overlooking the river. It is a maximum of 10 guests in camp at any one time, ensuring a really exclusive and peaceful experience. The chalets all have views across the flood plains of the Zambei and into the nearby National Park.

There is a wide range of activities included in your stay at Sindabezi that will keep you busy for days. On top of this there are also the Victoria Falls to explore and all of the adrenaline racing activities to be found there. At an additional charge the lodge can also arrange visits to Livingstone Island, microflights, helicopter flights, white water rafting, game drives and elephant back safaris.

Sindabezi Island is an island paradise in the Zambezi River, just upstream from Victoria Falls. You reach the island by either a short boat ride or a guided canoe trip down the Zambezi River. This journey will give you to opportunity for some game viewing as the animals come down to drink at the river’s edge. The island is named after the River Shinde as it is situated near the confluence of this and the Zambezi River.

We love Sindabezi Island because it is so hugely different from the civilisation and hustle and bustle you find around Victoria Falls. It’s the perfect mix of exploring during the day and returning to your island bush haven at night. For honeymooners we’d particularly recommend the Honeymoon Chalet, which is incredibly romantic. It’s also worth bearing in mind that Sindabezi Island works very well either on it’s own, or in combination with it’s sister property, Tongabezi, which is less camp-like and more opulent, but still in a very original way, eons away from being anything like the big hotels you find near the falls.

Sindabezi Island is reached by a short boat ride or a guided canoe trip down the Zambezi River to the island.

Sindabezi Island is the most environmentally friendly island in the river and is currently considered by Fodor's to be one of the top 10 eco lodges in Africa.

With just 5 tented chalets this is an intimate and exclusive island. It can even be hired on an exclusive use basis should you be travelling with a large group.

Sindabezi works well either as a stand-alone destination or in combination with it's sister lodge Tongabezi.

Stays at Sindabezi are on a fully inclusive basis. This includes: accommodation, all meals, drinks, house wines, laundry, sunset and sunrise boat trips on the Zambezi, lunch on a local island with a guided walk, fishing, visit to Victoria Falls on the Zambian side, game drive in the Most-Oa-Tunya National Park, walk in the gorge below the falls, cultural visit to the museum, local village visit, mountain bike trail to local village and shopping trips to the Zambian side of the Falls.

Children over the age of 14 are welcome at Sindabezi Island. If the island is taken privately children of all ages are welcome.
