Being both central and exclusive at the same time can be rather a tricky feat but The Cape Grace has certainly managed it. The hotel has a historic naval feel to it and a great deal of character, enabling it, despite its’ 120 rooms, to still feel like an intimate boutique hotel. The restaurant, Signal, so named after Signal Hill of which there are wonderful views through the window, is excellent and popular with both guests and outside visitors. The Bascule Bar is a fantastic place for enjoying drinks in the evening and has the widest selection of whiskey of anywhere in the city.

The hotel has a charm that appeals to all generations, and as such is a popular choice for families. The many interleading room options as well as the two and three bedroom suites mean that you can rest assure your children are tucked up in bed, whilst having plenty of space and privacy for yourselves. The staff really go out of their way for children, with age-appropriate gift bags, children’s activities, kiddie sized dressing gowns and other such treats.

Located on a private quay by the V&A Waterfront, the Cape Grace is a timeless classic, combining all of the conveniences of a modern day five star hotel, with all the charm and old school glamour of traditional Cape culture. With beautiful views of Table Mountain, a working harbour on one side of the hotel and a luxury yacht basin on the other there are fascinating things to see from every window. With such a central location many of the city’s attractions are within walking distance, but for ones that aren’t the hotel provides chauffeur transfers within a 10km radius.

The Cape Grace has far more character than you would expect from a hotel of its’ size and reputation. The service here is absolutely impeccable and it is a place we feel can never fail to impress. The concierge team are also absolutely fantastic, often managing to get tables at restaurants that have been booked up for months and with a never ending supply of suggestions for your days out in and around the city.
