The exterior of the grain silo building was designed by Thomas Heatherwick and he has created a masterpiece that will one day be as synonymous with the Cape Town skyline as the Eiffel Tower is to Paris. The building retains its cultural significance but has been adapted to present a modern contemporary exterior, with pillowed glaring panels that bulge slightly outward and at night transform the building into a beacon in the Cape Town harbour.

With its prime spot in the V&A Waterfront, The Silo Hotel is perfectly located for exploring all that the city has to offer. Whilst in the hotel itself guests can enjoy the spectacular views, swim in the rooftop pool, relax at the spa or enjoy guided tours of the museum below. The Sky Terrace and Rooftop Restaurant are particularly popular spots, where guests can enjoy meals and drinks whilst looking out over the city.

The seven different room categories at the hotel are based on the room size and the views. The individual architecture of the building means that the rooms are more spacious vertically than horizontally, and the pillowed window bays are a key feature whilst the views are the icing on top of the cake. All the rooms at the hotel have wonderful views, starting with the four Silo Rooms which have harbour views and their own balconies. The four Luxury Rooms are set on the 8th and 9th floors and have mountain views and their own balcony. The Superior Suites are set across the 6th and 7th floors and have either mountain or harbour views and range in size between 76sqm and 88sqm including a small balcony and the bedroom on a mezzanine level. The Deluxe Superior Suites are set on the 8th, 9th and 10th floors and have enormous 5.5m high windows to show off the views. On the 7th floor are four family suites, each with a mezzanine level with two bedrooms and views over the old harbour towards the mountains beyond. The two Royal Suites face the Atlantic Ocean and Robben Island and encompass a vast 132sqm containing two bedrooms and a generous balcony. Finally the crowning jewel of the hotel is The Penthouse, a 187sqm one-bedroom suite located on the top floor of The Silo, with triple aspect views of the city and a 24sqm balcony.

The Silo Hotel is a phenomenal piece of architecture, located in the grain elevator portion of the historic grain silo complex, occupying six floors above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in the heart of Cape Town's V&A Waterfront.

There is nowhere in Cape Town with views quite like The Silo, or with such a 'wow factor'. What we love about this hotel is the way no part of it lets you down. The service, food, décor and general luxuriousness of the property all live up to the spectacular views that the hotel is so famous for.

There is guest parking in the basement of the hotel. The terrace is home to the Rooftop Bar, Restaurant, Sky Terrace and Swimming Pool.

There is a 24-hour concierge service, complimentary Wifi, private meeting rooms and private dining rooms at the hotel. Children of all ages are welcome and children aged 0-4 stay free of charge. Childminding is available at an additional charge.

Rates include breakfast but are exclusive of lunch, dinner and snacks.

Check-in time is 2pm. Check-out time is 11am.
