The design for Xaranna camp was inspired by the countless water lilies that lie on the water around it. It has just nine safari tents which are made out of light coloured timber and canvas the shade of the lilies. Each of the tents has an ensuite bathroom with indoor bathtub and alfresco shower as well as a private deck on which to relax and a plunge pool. The overall atmosphere of the camp is of a delightfully rustic and slightly quirky place, ideal for guests wanting to enjoy their surroundings and the peacefulness of the location.

All the tents have air-conditioning and fans as well as additional luxuries such as hair dryers. There are mosquito nets around the beds and each tent can be set up as a twin or a double. There is one tent that can be set up as a triple for adults travelling with a child of 12 or younger. A gym in a bag can also be provided for your tent on request. There is wifi at the lodge but in the main room only, not in the guest suites.

Whilst there is plenty of big game in the area long game drives can be restricted due to the water levels and we recommend Xaranna more for those wanting to enjoy the water experiences so unique to the Delta. The birdlife here is spectacular and spending days cruising along the tranquil Delta waterways are wonderfully relaxing and great either as a one-stop safari holiday or as the perfect way to compliment any big game land-based safaris.

Xaranna Camp is a spectacular camp set in the heart of the World Heritage Site that is the Okavango Delta. The camp is located on a private island in a 272,000 hectare concession, giving it extraordinary levels of exclusivity. The camp takes its inspiration from the countless water lilies around it.

Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp is wonderfully relaxing and a very tranquil place to go for a safari. There is a large number of species in the are, many specially adapted for this semi-aquatic lifestyle and not to be found anywhere else. Whilst it perhaps isn’t the best camp for a first time safari goer wanting to tick the boxes of the Big 5 it certainly is ideal for anyone wanted to have a more relaxing style of safari or for those experienced safari enthusiasts looking for more specialist and rare wildlife.

Children of all ages are welcome at Xaranna and there is a special children's activities programme. Children under the age of 6 are not permitted on game drives, walks or canoeing however. Between the ages of 6 and 12 game drives are at the discretion of the camp manager. Children aged 16 and older can participate in all safari activities.

Please note that drones are not permitted at Xaranna Okavango Delta Lodge.

Xaranna is reached by scheduled charter flight into the Okavango Delta, followed by a road and boat transfer to the camp. It is a 20 minute flight from Maun or a 90 minute flight from Kasane.
