Zarafa is a place which in all honesty is ‘out of this world’. From the moment you are shown into your tent your draw will drop and most likely not be raised again for your entire stay. Every element of the camp is utterly beautiful, from its’ fantastic position overlooking the Zibadianja Lagoon, source of the Savute Channel, to the antique furniture decorating the main area and the suites.

There are just four guest tents, making this one of the most exclusive lodges to be found anywhere, each tent with a vast bedroom and bathroom, separate sitting room, and a spacious deck with private plunge pool and dining area. The guest tents are approximately 100sqm in size, excluding the wrap around decks and plunge pool area. There is even an open-air gym and in room massages are offered for those looking to truly relax.

Activities are focussed around morning/evening game drives and there are also guided walks and cruising on the lagoon when water levels permit. The service, food and guiding are all exceptional and the lodge even provides professional level Canon cameras and Swarovski binoculars for their guests use. Renowned wildlife photographer Beverly Joubert is a co-founder of Great Plains Conservation and you will notice her exception photos decorating the lodge, inspiring guests to create similar memories for themselves.

Zarafa Camp is located in a private reserve in Northern Botswana, the 320,000 acre Selinda Reserve. This is owned by Great Plains Conservation who are pioneers in finding the right combination of conservation, location, luxury and wildlife to create camps that have no negative influence on the land, yet provide every luxury a person could wish for. On the vast expanse of the Selinda Reserve are just 3 lodges, providing guests with an enormous wilderness all to themselves.

Zarafa is one of the most romantic and memorable camps to be found in Africa. It was the honeymoon destination of choice for Rothwell Rose’s founder, Eliza Rothwell Scrope, who would recommend it to anyone looking for a place that will stay in their heart and mind from then onwards. Great Plains sets a standard to challenge all other lodges, not only in terms of luxury and beauty, but also in their attitude and dedication to protecting the wildlife and wilderness around them.

Zarafa Camp is only reachable by charter flight, either scheduled or private. The camp is approximately a one hour game drive from the airstrip. Flight time is around 45 minutes from Maun and 50 minutes from Kasane.

Children over the age of 8 years are welcome at Zarafa Camp.
