There are just 75 villas on this intimate island that you can walk around in an easy 10 minutes stroll. 45 of the villas are located on the beach, and 30 are over the water villas, reached via a looping jetty, with endless views of the ocean and horizon. The villas all boast spacious indoor areas, large private sundecks, an outdoor, canopied four-poster bed, and, in the case of the water villas, a short flight of wooden steps leading directly into the turquoise waters of the lagoon.

On the island you have three restaurants serving a range of cuisine, as well as two bars. You’re not restricted at all in terms of locations and times so if you find a spot you fancy anywhere around the island you can request drinks and food to be brought to you there. One of our favourite spots is the Piano Deck, a wooden deck shaped like a Grand Piano, just off the coast, a beautiful place to enjoy a romantic meal whilst watching the sunset.

In terms of activities Baros is unique as an underwater destination as despite being such a small island it has two centres devoted to diving and exploring the sea: The Dive Centre and the separate Marine Centre. The house reef is just a few strokes from the beach and there are a further 30 world class dive spots within 50 minutes by boat. At the Marine Centre guests can borrow snorkelling gear free of charge, and spend unlimited amounts of time exploring the waters. If you prefer to look down into the crystal clear waters without actually being in them then there are stand up paddle boards and transparent kayaks to borrow. Or if you’re after some speed then you can get that adrenaline kick waterskiing, wakeboarding, or on a wakesledz. To head a little further from the island there is the beautiful Nooma, a traditional handcrafted Maldivian sailing dhoni, or Serenity, a modern luxury motor yacht, either of which can take you out for the day.

For relaxation head into the heart of the island, where you’ll find, hidden amongst lush foliage, the spa. With tropical gardens and flowing water around the treatment rooms, the Baros spa provides a relaxing and serene atmosphere to treat the body and soul. If you’d rather remain in your villa though then the expert spa therapists are very happy to come to you.

Baros is a private island resort located about 25 minutes north of Male, in the lower central part of the North Male Atoll. A hotel representative will meet you at Male Airport and escort you to the jetty to be whisked off by speedboat to the idyllic secluded island. The island is ringed by golden sand and a thriving house reef set in a shimmering blue lagoon.

Baros is a beautiful private island and comes with an amazingly reasonable price tag considering its competition and the level of service and luxury guests experience here. We strongly recommend it for romantic getaways or just a fly and flop holiday. There’s a huge amount to do, the food is delicious, villas beautiful, and you need never eat in the same place twice!

Baros is particularly famed for it's culinary excellence and has a wide choice of dining establishments. These include: The Lighthouse Restaurant, Cayenne Grille, Lime Restaurant, The Lighthouse Lounge and Sails Bar.

There is a library with a pool table as well as a table tennis table and indoor games.

Baros has a full-time nurse on-site and on-call doctor service.

There is a Marine Centre with a resident Marine Biologist.
