Finland is a great place for going off the beaten track. Beyond the buzzing capital of Helsinki there are vast expanses of forest and lakes and the glacial wilderness of the Arctic Circle in the north. Lapland is the place to head to around Christmas when you can go ice-fishing, skidoo racing and hunting for the Northern Lights, and if you're lucky catch a glimpse of Father Christmas!
