Sandibe Safari Lodge has existed for years but never quite like it is now. In September 2014 the lodge was completely rebuilt and now stands as the most luxurious lodge in the &Beyond portfolio in Botswana. The structure of the main lodge is designed to resemble a pangolin’s body, with wooden scales overlapping each other in the manner of a pangolin’s body armour. The organic materials blend in wonderfully with the surroundings, and look like no other ldoge on earth. The high curvaceous roof creates an immense sense of space inside, and the interactive kitchen fills the interiors with wonderful scents at each mealtime.

The lodge has twelve elegant suites that have been designed with privacy at the forefront along with position to make the best of the marvellous views. Each of the suites is raised just above the papyrus, and nestled into the trees and thickets along the edge of the watery channel. Two of the suites connect to form a family suite and children of all ages are welcome at Sandibe although some activities are age restricted.

The suites are all beautifully designed, with every imaginable luxury, vast beds, en-suite bathrooms and discreet butler hatches which your morning tea and coffees will appear through. Each of the suites has an open-plan lounge area, perfect in any season with air-conditioning for hot days and a cosy fireplace for chilly evenings. The suite leads out through large sliding doors onto private split-level decks, with a plunge pool, an outdoor seating area, shower and daybed.

Despite the permanent water channels near Sandibe it must be noted that this is not a water-based activity focussed safari lodge. Activities centre around game drives and guided walks, with scenic helicopter flights also available at an additional cost.

Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge is set in a private 22,500-hectare concession in the Okavango Delta, on land adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve. The lodge has spectacular views over the Okavango Delta and the prolific wildlife in the area. Towering palm trees and some huge baobab trees shade it and the landscape is a good balance of forested areas, floodplains and permanent water channels providing a wonderful mixture of wildlife.

As Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge has existed in one form or another for so many years the staff and guides here are absolutely wonderful. The majority of them have been working at the lodge for years and so are exceptionally experienced and knowledgeable about the area and it’s wildlife. With this though you now have the benefit of a spanking new lodge, with all the bells and whistles and every luxury imaginable. The two elements combine to give guests a really unforgettable holiday that they will want to return to year after year.

Twelve suites (including a family suite), all with private plunge pools. All suites have air-conditioning, room fans, mosquito nets, and indoor and outdoor showers. Suites are equipped with hairdryers and in-room safes.

Massage sala overlooking the Delta channels.

Cosy fireplaces in each suite.

Children of all ages are welcome. Children 5 years and younger cannot participate in game drives or nature walks. Children aged 6 to 11 can participate in game drives at the lodge manager's discretion. Children aged 16 and over can participate in bush walks. Childminding is available at an additional cost. There is a complimentary children's activity programme at the lodge.

The Okavango Delta is a malaria area and necessary precautions should be taken.

Drones are not permitted at &Beyond's reserves, lodges, camps and villas.

The lodge is reached by a 30 minute charter flight from Maun Airport.

Game Drives (day and night)
