Solitaire Lodge is one of New Zealand’s original luxury lakeside lodges; designed to invite the outdoors in, serene in it’s tranquil setting with expansive views of Lake Tarawera and the mountain backdrop.

There are ten recently refurbished and particularly luxurious suites, split into four categories, at Solitaire Lodge; all featuring panoramic views over Lake Tarawera and the distant volcano.

Solitaire Lodge is particularly renowned for it’s fine dining, with contemporary New Zealand cuisine prepared using fresh local produce and complemented by fine wines from regional vineyards. Guests can enjoy their meals in the lodge dining room or in the privacy of their own suite. Stays here are on a full-board basis so guests can enjoy a full country breakfast each day, a light lunch and pre-dinner drinks and canapés before an indulgent five-course dinner. To work off the food guests also have complimentary use of the lodge dinghies and kayaks.

Solitaire Lodge is set on the idyllic shores of Lake Tarawera, near Rotorua on New Zealand’s North Island. Rotorua is the place of fascination Maori culture, hot springs, and boiling mud pools – a geothermal wonderland not to be missed on any visit to North Island. The lodge can be reached by a 3hr 30min drive from Auckland, a 1hr 30min drive from Taupo, or a 55 min helicopter ride from Auckland.

Everything at Solitaire Lodge really focuses on the spectacular Lake Tarawera setting. There are floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the property, and the lawn drops down to a private beach inviting guests to really make the most of the setting.

Rates are on a full board basis, including: accommodation, complimentary mini bar, pre-dinner drinks and canapés, five course dinner, full country breakfast, light lunch, complimentary wifi and use of lodge bicycles, dinghies and kayaks.

Children of all ages are welcome although it is recommended that children under the age of 8 dine in their suite in the dining room, or on the terrace around 6pm. Children under the age of 5 stay free of charge.

A two night minimum stay policy applies over the festive season.
