Soneva Jani is a spectacular resort, consisting of a collection of Water Villas and Island Sanctuaries set within a vast private lagoon with five islands, the larges of which is Medhufaru which is 150 acres in size and home to many of the resorts main facilities.
The heart of the resort is known as The Gathering, a three-storey overwater structure that is home to various restaurants as well as the spa, library, boutique shop and wine cellar. Next to this is the Observatory where you can find the resident Astronomer on hand to guide you through the heavens using the extraordinary Meade telescope. As well as several restaurants, guests at Soneva Jani can enjoy an unlimited supply of complimentary Ice Cream and Chocolate, with over 50 flavours of ice-cream to choose from and handmade chocolates from the in-house chocolatiers. Set on the main island guests will also find the stunning Cinema Paradiso; an overwater, open-air cinema located in a peaceful bay to the south of the island. The chef here can create a perfect menu to accompany you during the evening's film.
The villas are all made from sustainable materials and have a wonderfully light and airy feel to them with huge floor to ceiling windows making up entire walls, a roof terrace and deck from which to enjoy watching the sunset, and to top it all a retractable roof in the master bedroom to allow guests to stargaze from the comfort of their bed. Each Water Villa opens to its very own stretch of crystal clear lagoon and has it's own private pool. Many of the villas also feature a slide to take you from the upper deck straight into the lagoon below.
The spacious master bedrooms all have adjoining kids sleeping areas and lead into an open-air bathroom with bathtub, shower, and steps down into a private water garden in the lagoon. All the mod cons you could wish for are provided, including an excellent sound system and cleverly disguised TV in the master bedroom as well as the more run-of-the-mill facilities such as air-conditioning. The walk-in mini-bar feels more like a private kitchen and comes equipped with an espresso machine and private wine cellar selection. There is a spacious living area with a dining table with glass floor so you can constantly keep an eye out for exciting marine life below you. If you have to do some work whilst you are on holiday then don't fret, there is even a little study space in a private room with desk and telephone, facing out to the ocean so that you can enjoy the view whilst getting some work done.
The vast outdoor deck contains sunken seating areas, sun loungers, a 13m private swimming pool, and catamaran nets lowered over the pool to relax in.
