The hotel is a grand Edwardian-era property, built in the early 1900s and surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens. There is a traditional and colonial style throughout the hotel and rooms, and in the general atmosphere, with traditions such as a high tea served on the terrace each day. The British Royal Family chose Victoria Falls Hotel as their hotel during a visit to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in 1947 and you can see photos of the royal visit lining the walls in certain corridors of the hotel.
There are 161 bedrooms throughout the hotel, split into 10 different categories and offering every luxury you would wish for from a 5 star hotel. Some of the suites contain multiple bedrooms and there are also a handful of interleading rooms available throughout the hotel for families with young children. Being a fairly extensive property the views do vary quite a bit from room to room so this is something that is definitely worth bearing in mind and speaking to your travel specialist about when booking. For instance some of the larger, more exclusive bedrooms don’t actually have such good views of the Gorge and the Falls as some of the lower category rooms do.
