The hotel is a grand Edwardian-era property, built in the early 1900s and surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens. There is a traditional and colonial style throughout the hotel and rooms, and in the general atmosphere, with traditions such as a high tea served on the terrace each day. The British Royal Family chose Victoria Falls Hotel as their hotel during a visit to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in 1947 and you can see photos of the royal visit lining the walls in certain corridors of the hotel.

There are 161 bedrooms throughout the hotel, split into 10 different categories and offering every luxury you would wish for from a 5 star hotel. Some of the suites contain multiple bedrooms and there are also a handful of interleading rooms available throughout the hotel for families with young children. Being a fairly extensive property the views do vary quite a bit from room to room so this is something that is definitely worth bearing in mind and speaking to your travel specialist about when booking. For instance some of the larger, more exclusive bedrooms don’t actually have such good views of the Gorge and the Falls as some of the lower category rooms do.

The Victoria Falls Hotel is the grand-dame of all hotels, and renowned world-over as ‘The’ place to stay on a visit to see these mighty falls that are one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The hotel is situated on the Zimbabwean side of the falls, just a 10 minute walk from the cascading water, via a private footpath.

If you want a proper taste of old-school, colonial life then The Victoria Halls Hotel is the place for you. Elegance flows through the long corridors and every room is beautifully decorated with antique furniture with some modern touches and amenities. There are several restaurants at the hotel, our particular favourites are Stanley’s Terrace which offers delicious light meals throughout the day and the legendary and more formal Livingstone Restaurant which serves a superb 7-course degustation dinner menu.

Children of all ages are welcome and child rates are available for those under the age of 11 when in an interleading room.

Stays at Victoria Falls Hotel are on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

There are 3 restaurants at the hotel - The Stanley Terrace, The Stanley Room and The Jungle Junction.
