Wolwedans Boulders Camp is great either as a stand-alone destination, or even better in conjunction with one of its sister lodges in the reserve. Being the most remote out of the lodges it has a very exclusive feel, and is reached by a scenic 4×4 drive through beautiful landscapes that takes about an hour and a half.

There are just four tented chalets at Boulders Camp, each built on raised wooden decks against the granite boulders behind them. Canvas stretches across the wooden frame giving it a typical safari feel and the open fronts and sides allow for constant enjoyment of the view. Each tent has a large four-poster bed in the centre of it, draped with mosquito netting, an en-suite bathroom and of course a deck are with seating. Decorated with natural earthy tones the chalets perfectly complement their surroundings.

The main part of the camp is made up of a dining tent and a lounge tent connected by the kitchen between them. Antique furniture, leather sofas, an open fireplace and plenty of hanging lanterns make this a cosy and snug are to settle down at in the evenings. There is also a small plunge pool to cool off in on hot days.

The huge open fireplace, set within a semi-circle of boulders, provides the perfect spot to enjoy drinks and exchange stories. Sundowners can also be enjoyed atop a nearby mountainous plateau from where guests can enjoy incredible views of the vast beauty around them.

Wolwedans Boulders Camp is located in the NamibRand Nature Reserve, south of Sossusvlei in southwestern Namibia. The reserve covers around 200,000 hectares and encompasses a huge diversity of landscapes. The lodge is 45km south of the other Wolwedans lodges, set against huge granite boulders with endless views across the grassy plains before it to the mountains beyond.

Wolwedans Boulders Camp is a beautiful spot, really at one with its surroundings and exceptionally remote. Whilst the NamibRand is not really a wildlife destination the reserve is home to gemsbok, kudu, zebra, giraffe and some other animals so we’d really recommend coming here to enjoy the scenery and tranquillity of the area and you might be lucky enough to spot some wildlife too. It’s not possible to visit Sossusvlei from this area but the two make a great combination and can easily be combined on a road trip or a flying circuit.

4 Tented Chalets make up this small and exclusive retreat.

Children over the age of 6 are welcome although younger children are accepted if the camp is booked-out exclusively.

There is complimentary Wi-Fi in the main area.
