Dune Camp is spectacularly positioned on the edge of a 250 metre high sand dune, offering wonderful views out over the reserve. There are just six domed tents, each pitched on a wooden platform with a viewing deck allowing guests to sleep out under the stars. The tents are all open-sided so you can make the absolute most of the views, although of course the sides can be lowered in the evening for warmth if the night is chilly. The tents are comfortable and spacious, and each has an en-suite bathroom with a hot shower, ‘his and hers’ sinks and a flush loo.

The main part of the lodge consists of a comfy lounge, dining area and an open-plan kitchen so that guests can chat to the chef as he prepares delicious surprises for each meal. The sundowner deck is the perfect spot to while away the time discussing the day’s adventures whilst seated around the campfire in true African style.

Wolwedans Dune Camp is located in the NamibRand Nature Reserve, south of Sossusvlei in southwestern Namibia. The reserve covers around 200,000 hectares and encompasses a huge diversity of landscapes. Of particular interest in the reserve are the fairy circles – mysterious bare circles in the sand that stretch along the borders of the Namib Desert and have yet to be explained despite numerous scientists researching their origin.

We love Wolwedans Dune Camp because of it’s classic simplicity and location. The tents are comfortable without being excessive and really make the most of the incredible views. With only 6 tents you can be assured of an exclusive experience and the ability to sleep-out on your private deck under a blanket of stars really is a fantastic opportunity.

Children over the age of 6 are welcome at Wolwedans Dune Camp.

The lodge operates on a fully inclusive board basis.

Wolwedans Dunes Camp is reached by an international flight to Windhoek, followed by either a 1-1.5hr charter flight or, if you are self-driving, it is a 6-7 hour drive from Windhoek or Swakopmund.

There is no 'spa' as such but in-room massages are available.
